Early Life & Background
Deborah was born on August 25, 1984 to an Ashanti father and a Romanian mother, Mrs Felicia, Owusu-Bonsu who was born on December 22, 1953 in Ploiesti, Bucharest.
Owusu-Bonsu is of Akan origin and also a sister to the hip life singer Wanlov the Kubolor.
She attended Christ the King International School and proceeded to Wesley Girls High School. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Publishing Studies from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and also a Master degree in Journal publishing from the University of the Arts London.
Career
Sister Derby had shown passion for her field while working for both small and big enterprises in Ghana.
She started her music career as a backup singer where she collaborated with numerous musicians before she went solo.
She recorded a single titled “Uncle Obama” in 2012. The song was directed at Barack Obama and as such was covered by United States television network.

Sister Derby was said to have dated the Ghanaian rapper, Medikal for almost three years before they eventually parted ways in 2018.
