Early Life
Folake Coker was born on March 10, 1974 in Lagos, Nigeria. Her father, late Chief Bode Akindele, was known as the owner of Mondondola Group of Companies, an indigenous conglomerate in Nigeria and fairgate group, a top international real estate company.
She had her early education in Switzerland and the United Kingdom, and earned a postgraduate degree in Petroleum Law. She came back to Nigeria and pursued her interest in fashion.
Career
Folake Coker unveiled her fashion brand, Tiffany Amber in November 1998, which became the first ready-to-wear label in Nigeria. The brand boast of four stores and boutiques in both Abuja and Lagos.
She became the first African based fashion designer to stage a show twice at the New York Fashion Week. She also unveiled her Nirvana summer collections at DOII designs launch.
