Pellistri was born Facundo Pellistri Rebollo on December 20, 2001, in Montevideo, Uruguay. He is of mixed ethnicity as he was born into a family of Spanish and Italian origin. His father is an accountant.
He had his education privately at two institutions; St. Brendan’s School for his basic education, and Ivy Thomas Memorial School for his high school education.
Career
Pellistri began his football career at the youth level with La Picada and River Plate Montevideo before joining the youth system of Peñarol in 2012.
He made his professional debut for Peñarol in a 2-2 draw against Defensor Sporting, on August 11, 2019, and scored his first goal for the club in a 3-1 victory against Cerro.
He signed a 5 year deal with Manchester United on October 5, 2020, for a reported transfer fee of £9 million.
He joined Deportivo Alaves on loan, on January 31, 2021, for the remainder of the season and returned to United to play in their summer pre-season matches before going back on loan to Alaves in August for the 2021-22 season.
He made his Premier league debut for Manchester United in a 2-2 draw against Leeds United after coning on as a substitute.
At the international level, he represented Uruguay at the under-16 levels. He was called up to the senior team on January 7, 2022, ahead of the World Cup qualifying matches against Paraguay and Venezuela.
He was among the squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where he played Uruguay’s first game of the tournament against South Korea.
