Emmanuel Michaels Ogbonna (born November 24, 1983) popularly known as Emmanuel Michaels De Senator, is a Nigerian movie producer and director who came to prominence for his hit movie “Smackdown”.

He has produced and directed other exciting movies like Mission Statement and Akudiya. He also worked with veteran actors like Ebere Okaro and Chinwetalu Agu.

Early Life

Emmanuel Michaels was born on November 24, 1983 and originally hails from Olokoro Umuahia Abia state.

He obtained a degree in Accounting from Federal polytechnic Oko.

Career

Emmanuel Michaels joined the Nigerian movie industry known as Nollywood in 1998. He went for online movie training under the supervision of a legendary movie director Teco Benson (MFR).

He came through as a Nollywood movie director in 2004 with the movie titled “Action of the gods” as produced by former AGN chairman DT Alex Idu. Although it was not an easy one for him yo get to the top after his first film but when grace speaks, nothing can stop your destiny.

Emmanuel Michaels came to limelight in 2006 with the self written and directed movie “Smackdown” featuring the likes of Uche Jombo, Chinwetalu Agu, JohnPaul Nwadike and Van Vicker. The hit movie, Smackdown was produced by Alex Idu.

De Senator took a bold step to learn about movie editing and cinematography and of course he later established and registered a movie company known as “Hotline Movies Int’l”.

As a certified movie director, he has produced numerous Nollywood films which include; Akudiya, Mission Statement, Must be buried, Clash of Royalty and many others

He has also worked with other A-list actors such as Emeka Ike, Ebere Okaro, Zubby Michael, Ngozi Ezeonu, Joyce Kalu and many others.
