Early Life
Adut Akech was born on December 25, 1999 in South Sudan. Her family had settled at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in northwestern Kenya where she spent years of her life.
She grew up with her 5 siblings; an older sister, Kim and younger ones, Alakiir, Yar, Bior and Akoul.
She later moved to Australia and adopted a different name, Mary (her mother’s name) in high school as many could not pronounced her real name.
Career
Adut had passion to be a model after she walked the runway for the first time at the age of 13.
With influences from Naomi Campbell, whom she met in the spring of 2017, she developed her passion and subsequently moved to New York. According to Vogue, Naomi was the first family she had in New York.
She has campaigned for the likes of Givenchy, Valentino, Fendi, Moschino, Burberry, Alexander McQueen and many others
She has also shot editorials for the likes of Vogue Australia, Vogue Paris, T Magazine, British Vogue, Le Monde M Magazine and so on.
